Los filtros de seguridad tienen dos funciones: para actuar como respaldo del filtro primario y para proteger el motor durante el servicio del filtro primario.
• Servir como filtro de respaldo en caso de daño del filtro principal o instalación incorrecta.
• Evitar que entren contaminantes en el lado limpio del sistema de admisión de aire durante el mantenimiento del filtro primario.
• Diseñado para taponarse rápidamente si la contaminación pasa por el filtro primario, alertando a los operadores sobre un problema.
• Recomendar que los filtros de seguridad se reemplacen con cada tercer cambio de filtro primario a menos que haya fallado el filtro primario.
